Plastic Bags

I usually don't post things like this, but in my quest to be a bit more "green" (without loosing my head over it) I've decided to try my hardest to never use plastic bags again.  Take a look at this. It really got me thinking.  If certain cities in the US as well as whole countries have banned plastic bags, that should speak volumes.  So, I'm getting more Trader Joe's bags and using them everywhere I go.  I'd love this bag, but I'm not one for making statements unless it's for Jesus.  :D

I'm a woman. I CAN change my mind...

It's not so much that I changed my mind, I just moved it around a little bit.  :D  I had originally thought that I wanted to purchase more Foogo's, which I do!  But, I think I only want one more.  Mostly for longer trips outside the house since they are insulated like a Thermos.  (Oh, that's becaust they ARE a Thermos..)

Anyway, I've come to fall in like with the Klean Kanteen.  Mostly because they are eco-friendly, but also because, come on, they now come in pink!  How cool is that?  Savannah is pretty excited about that.  I also like that they have the different lids.  I can either put the sippy lid on (which doesn't look "babyish" at all) or the sports cap lid.  She can basically grow into them.  Love it!

Plus, I really want one.  But I think I'll just get the silver.

Click, Click, YES!

So, I've decided that I really need to get behind my camera more often.  I've gotten pretty rusty.  I haven't had a photography job in almost a year (anyone? anyone?)  Anyway, before I left to go on a girls-night-out, I shot a few pictures of Savannah with her new parasole.  Of course, she wanted to take a few with her best furry friend D'Argo.

Here are the first few shots...

I'm actually pretty surprised that she allowed me so many shots.  The past year or so she's been such a pistol when it comes to being in front of the lens.

If things keep going this well, I may need to get a Flickr account.  I'll still post some here too, but the majority will go on the Flickr.  That's of course only if I get up and behind the camera more!

This next one isn't my favorite.  Savannah's face is a little blown out, but I love the look on D'Argo's (not in focus...) face, so I had to add it.  It looked really bad in color.

So, those are from Saturday.  The one's below are from today.  We were outside playing with the dogs, and I thought Savannah's hair looked really pretty, even though it was kind of a mess.  She didn't have a shirt on and I didn't want to take her picture with no shirt just in case one of them turned out good and I wanted to hang it on my wall!  So, she ran inside and grabbed her hand dyed silk.  It was perfect!  Love these shots...

Loooooovvvveeeee this one.  I think it's hang on the wall worthy.  I'm so glad I made her put  something on.

This one she is actually laying on D'Argo, but you can't see him.  Her face just looked so beautiful I couldn't ruin it with a big drooly Rottweiler!  LOL!

And last, but not least, my favorite one.  Well, of Savannah.  I wish I could crop it just perfect so that it was just her, but I can't.  :(  I wish it didn't look like she had a choke hold on the dog because I love everything about the capture of her.  *sigh*

And that's all for now.  Don't forget.  You can click on the image to make it bigger.  Remember though, that it opens in the same window, so you have to click the back button to get back here.

"Not-so-guilty" pleasure

Trader Joe's Gone Bananas! Chocolate Dipped Bananas.  It's my newest not-so-guilty pleasure.  I ran into a friend of mine from high school at Trader Joe's.  Between talking about pregnancy, kids, and old friends she pulled out a box of Gone Bananas!  "Have you tried these?"  I hadn't, and actually I've never really been a big fan of frozen bananas, mostly because when I'm going to get a desert, I want it to be ice cream, or a brownie, or a piece of cake.  I have been staying away from deserts though, because I have in recent months put on a few (*cough* 15 *cough*) pounds.  She made a good point though.  It's a fruit.  Plain and simple.  It's a frozen banana.  Sure, it's got a hard chocolate coating, but in the scheme of things, that's nothing!  I picked up a box.

I brought the box home, and Wayne and I had one for desert that night.  He said that the first few bites were really good but then it just became "ok."  I loved it the entire time!  I thought it was so yummy.  I looked up the Weight Watchers points, and it's only 4.  That may seem like a lot for a desert but remember, 2 of those points are from a banana.  Not so high anymore, huh?

Conclusion:  Trader Joe's Gone Bananas! Chocolate Dipped Bananas is a new staple in the Fox household.  Are they as good as a big bowl of Extreme Moosetracks ice cream?  No.  But they come is close second.

It's official. We're switching to the Foogo

After thinking about it all night and into the morning, and after reading Kristen's comment on my sippy cup post, I've decided that I am going to be purchasing more Foogos for Savannah.  What sealed the deal?  A post on Nature Mom's Blog.  I'd never read her blog before, but after doing a search in Google for eco friendly sippy cups, a link to another mom's blog led me to hers.  (Confused?  lol. )  Anyway.  I'll do a search to find the most cost efficient place to purchase these.  Anyone in the market for used Playtex Insulator sippy cups?  :D

I'm so over sippy cups...

And I should be, right?  I mean, Savannah will be 5 in October and she still drinks out of a sippy cup.  I know it's my fault.  I should have "weaned" her a long time ago, but until recently, I didn't realize how difficult that would be.  I think I literally have to wean her from it!  I think it has become a sort of pacifier, if you will.  If we are out and about and I have forgotten her "juicy" she'll throw a fit.  "JUICY!  I need my juicy mommy!"

Today, I decided that I'd put her juice (which is 80% water and 20% white grape juice) in a cup with a straw.  She said it was yucky.  She only wants it out of a sippy cup.  *sigh*

She will drink it out of her Foogo though.  But those things are expensive!  But, not so baby-ish as your traditional sippy cup, so I think that I'll be investing in a few more of those.  Luckily, they come in pink and purple, her favorite colors.  ;)

I do believe that I will allow her to continue to bring a sippy cup to bed though.  That way I can make sure that she doesn't spill all over her bed and I won't have to wake up to her calling "JUICY!  I need my juicy mommy!"

Trip to Montana

After last years vacation to Hawaii, I think that Wayne realized how nice it is to not only take time off of work, but to actually leave the house and enjoy some time away!  This year we were blessed once again and were able to spend an entire week in Montana.  Well, Savannah and I had two weeks there.  My parents drove the two of use there and we spent a week with just the four of us.  Then Wayne flew in the next week and the entire Fox family flew home a week later.

Our time there was amazing and a total blessing.  The Lord does answer prayers and this time He actually answered one of mine the way that I wanted it to be answered!  I prayed that Wayne would fall in love with Montana and he did.  We would love to move there within the next five years.  We're working towards that and I just keeping praying for God's will to be done.  If He wants us there, that's where we'll be.  All in His timing, of course.  ;)  (The sooner the better, Lord...)

Savannah loves Montana as well, and when we were there she kept saying that she wanted to move there.  That was until she got home and got to play with her best friend (and neighbor) Geneva.  She wants Geneva and Heather to move with us.  LOL!  Hey, God can do it!

Here are a few images from our trip.

Here is the family.  Not the best picture of Wayne, but it's the only one of the three of us!

This is a picture from our trip to Yellowstone.  See the bison?  They are all over the place there.

This picture was taken on our way to Yellowstone.

This is the little town that we stay in.  My parent's actually live there for the summers in the house that my grandma owns. It has no stop lights.  :D

This lake was completely frozen over when I first arrived in Montana.  By the time Wayne got there it looked like this.  A few days later it had completely "defrosted."

Savannah.  'Nuff said.  ;)

And I know I've said it before, but honestly, I'm going to try to post once a week.  Even if it's just with a Hi.
